ABOUT JERRY BURRUSS

Jerry Burruss is a guitarist and vocalist playing a wide spectrum of music with a focus on blues and country. Jerry has been blind since birth.

With a repertoire of over 500 songs spanning 70 years of music history, Jerry Burruss, acoustic or electric, solo, or fronting a band, presents cover tunes and originals by band members, with a guitar style that defies mimicry and a voice which offers a singular blend of throat and lungs rife with rural road dust.

Jerry lives in the rural Southeastern corner of Pennsylvania 30 miles from Philadelphia, 15 miles from Wilmington Delaware, and 60 miles from Baltimore Maryland. Burruss' folk, blues, and country music are rooted in the experience of growing up black, blind, and alone under Jim Crowe law near the Mason Dixon line in Chester County PA.

"Found My Way Out" is Jerry's demo CD/EP. The EP comes with Jerry's Press Kit which we can deliver to your venue. It is also sold in stores in Media PA, and here on the web.

"JERRY BURRUSS: HANDS DOWN" is Jerry's first full length CD. It is Jerry's effort to hand down some music history to those who are younger. It is currently in production at playroom recording www.playroomrecording.com

In 1948, at age 13 Jerry began to teach himself to sing & play piano & guitar. Jerry used music to occupy himself in a dysfunctional alcoholic home noted for its abusive, neglectful, and malnourishing characteristics. Jerry's music is the only thing that took him past these obstacles. His efforts to play out with others were thwarted by racial, & disability prejudice from 1946 to 2001.

After 55 years of playing at home alone Jerry was discovered by Chester County music store owner, Del Bittle www.Delbittle.com. In meeting Del, Jerry stated Jerry's wish to play with a band, play in public, and to go to play at the Grand Old Opry in Nashville Tennessee. In 2004 Del found Jerry musicians to play with, and after a year of learning to play with others, Jerry hit the road.
